Dark red chalcedony gemstone beads are unfaceted flat ovals measuring approximately 18mm x 13mm. Beads are approximately 5mm thick at the center, flattening just a bit toward the edges. There's a shallow notch at each end. Lengthwise holes have a diameter of approximately 0.8mm that widens a little at the notches. Beads are heat treated/dyed and smoothly polished. They're nearly opaque in the center, with greater translucency at the edges. Stones have a grainy, unbanded appearance close-up and color may vary slightly from bead to bead (just like untreated stones do). Color has just a hint of pink for a rich tone that darkens to almost brick red in the more opaque beads. Lot includes 22 beads, equivalent to a 16" (40.64cm) strand.
