Fossilized coral cabochon has beige polyps clearly visible in a translucent matrix throughout this one-of-a-kind stone. There are small pits here and there from the natural shape of the coral. Cabochon is polished on both sides, with a domed top. It measures approximately 41x9mm and 9mm thick at the center of the dome. This vintage stone from the 1990's or before was in a large lot of salvaged semiprecious gems and may have been used in a setting. There is some shallow scratching in the center of the back and a small nick or two at the bottom edge, possibly from the removal of findings and/or being banged about in long-term storage and mixed with other stones.
