Large Round Cabochon, 30mm Beige Jasper

Opaque beige jasper cabochon is polished on both sides, with a domed top. Stone has mottled look, with lighter patches of cream and some small translucent areas. Low dome cabochon measures approximately 30mm across and 6mm thick at the center. There is a small pit near the girdle, which is a natural feature rather than a flaw. This vintage cabochon was in a large lot of salvaged semiprecious gems and may have been used in a setting. There is some shallow scratching on the back and a small nick or two at the bottom edge, possibly from the removal of findings and/or being banged about in long-term storage and mixed with other stones.
