For Days 25 and 26 of #JunkJournalJuly '24, the prompts were "tea-dyed" and "shade". Entirely unplanned, the journal page just happened to have a neutral-toned franken-paper extension over the original white page. Since I was working with a page which had the beginnings of a neutral collage (I had added a franken-paper page extension earlier), a piece of tan pattern tissue and a corner tuck spot with a vintage tea card image were all that were needed to make the page various shades of…

Classic poetry and author's names, a torn image of early film star Clara Bow, and assorted tissue papers make up this spread for prompts "timeless", "tip-in", and "ephemeral". The tipped-in journaling card features verses from Gray's Elegy. Since both poetry selections came from the same anthology, I added a layer of vintage tracing paper to the card to "fade" the text and give a different texture from the neighboring page. I wanted the card to almost float over the translucent…
The prompts for days 20 and 21 of #JunkJournalJuly were "picture" and "colors". As part of my first round of renovations to a (more or less) blank junk journal, I added the window fold-out on one side and some strategic page crumbling on the other. For the challenges, I tipped in colorful pictures of flowers and fantastic blue morpho butterfly. The red flowers of the journaling spot tie in with the red stripe on the window frame. The journaling spot is actually 2 small pages, using…
You read that right! I combined the prompts for 5 days (homemade, petal, aged, free, and tag) across this 2-page spread for #JunkJournalJuly. There's no wrong way to complete the monthly challenge! Since all of the prompts could easily apply to previous days, it made sense to combine them and save the few pages I have left in a very chunky journal. In January, I used a prompt to create a puzzle card. This time, the page is the puzzle. All but 1 of the prompts are represented multiple times…
Weather is the word for Day 14 of #JunkJournalJuly '24! No progress shots today, only the finished page spread. Peeking through the window on the right it the Wordsworth quote on light, which was also weather-related. I collaged around the page with music paper, a cluster (made previously and in my stash), some butterflies, and a quote from George Gissing that I liked too much to leave behind in the vintage book of quotations I've been harvesting. To set it off from the page a bit, I…
The prompt for Day 13 of #JunkJournalJuly is "light". Aside from the large collaged tab along the right page, there was a lot of white with a barely there green floral. To let light in, so to speak, I cut a porthole in the right page, added a circle of acetate, and lined it with die cut rings I made from a page of my favorite vintage atlas (lots of lovely blues for the seas and oceans). As you can see in the progress shots, I also trimmed down the page tab so that it looks like three…
