With the exception of the 2 large Happy Birthday stickers, letters in each word are separate. This gives you many more options for creating your own text (letter not included are F, J, M, Q, V, X and Z). Don't toss the backing! Each rectangular strip of the 22 smaller vertical messages is a sticker with the message in negative space, including the "holes", which are connected to the rectangular outline instead of floating around on their own. Leave the outlined letters empty or fill the voids with your favorite coloring media. You can also do this with the 2 largest stickers, but it will take a bit more work as the counter-spaces (holes) are separate stickers.

Additional backing material outside the rectangular messages can be cut into shapes to stick on other projects or used for stripes or borders. The use of tweezers is recommended to lift and transfer these decals to your projects.
