Unusual amethyst glass cabochons are vintage lampwork from Japan. Asymmetric nuggets are unfoiled and have a flat back. The lengthwise channel on the front and back of these vintage stones is designed for wire wrapping. The final photo shows this type of stone with a simple wrap. The groove is very subtle, so stones can also be used in bezel and prong settings. You will receive 12 stones.

Artisans of Osaka's glass districts have been hand making glass since the 3rd century. Cherry Brand beads and stones were created only during the American occupation of Japan after World War II. The artisans belong to this collective from 1945-1952 were full-time rice farmers. They set up flameworking stations at their homes so that they could develop their glasswork skills. After their farming chores were done for the day, they worked into the night creating these lovely little works of art.
