Rhomboid Cabochon, Dark Blue Sodalite 35x26.5mm 32.7ct Semiprecious Gem

Hefty 32.7 carat dark blue sodalite cabochon measures approximately 35x26.5mm and is 6.75mm thick. Opaque cab is flat and all corners are slightly rounded. The shape is best described as a sliding rhomboid, like a box that's been turned on its corner and flattened half-way. The technical term is a parallelepiped. These vintage stones from the 1990's or before were hand cut and not calibrated. All sides are smooth and polished. There are no exact color and size matches. One gem has a couple of small brown patches, while the other has a pale gray vein that ends at a corner (it makes it slightly rough, but it's not chipped).

I obtained these stones as part of a large lot of salvaged semiprecious gems. They may have small scratches where they were either removed from findings or banged about in long-term storage. These were originally used for earrings, but I think they're a bit too heavy. They'd make wonderful pendants!
