#JunkJournalJuly 2024, Days 11-12

July 13, 2024

For this 2-page spread, I combined the prompts "stamps" and "packaging".  But first, I pulled a pocket off of the left page. It's the last page of a center insert with 4 pockets. The first page was altered for the last prompt and I'm skipping the middle two (for now).  They're busy anyway, as I needed somewhere to stash the prompt list and scraps for collaging.

The page has stamping as part of the original decor, so I used it to anchor the collage that surrounds most of the page and incorporates both vintage grocery stamps and upcycled packaging.  The new pocket is made from the corner of a padded paper mailer.  I like the recycling reminder, but covered the branding with vintage green stamps. The coordinating journal card has more upcycled packaging.  In all, I used 6 different packaging materials or images of them across the two pages (5 you can see, the 6th is on the back side of the journaling card). For the page on the right,  I cut it down by about an inch to reveal an edge collage on a later page that features faux stamps and images from a stamp collecting album. I then covered the remainder with patterned packaging paper and added a folding collage of houses made from paper scraps, including coffee dyed paper, off-cuts from large book pages, catalog images, handmade framed labels, faux stamp images, and other bits from my scrap bins.
